The Colorado Rockies traded their All-Star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and veteran reliever LaTroy Hawkins on Monday night to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for Jose Reyes and prospects Jeff Hoffman and Miguel Castro.

Tulowitzki, an All-Star and one of the top shortstops in baseball, has struggled since 2011 to stay healthy throughout an entire season. Last season he missed significant time due to a hip injury playing just 91 games. So far this season the 30 year old is hitting .305 and was a part of the 2015 MLB All-Star game this month.

Hawkins, a MLB veteran at 42 years old, is a solid reliever and closer and in 2014 pitched 22 1/3 innings with a 3.63 ERA. So far in 2015, Hawkins has two saves with a 3.63 ERA and a 2-1 record.

Reyes like Tulowitzki, has struggled with injuries throughout his career. This season he is currently batting .285 with four homers and 34 RBIs with a .322 OBP.  At 32, he has made his way through a few teams but has also struggled with errors at the shortstop position. Perhaps a new team will help Reyes stay solid throughout the final part of the season.
