Weekend Injury Report: Puig with Strained Hamstring, Wainwright Hurts Ankle

The Los Angeles Dodgers placed right fielder Yasiel Puig on the 15-day disabled list as he is suffering from a strained left hamstring.

According to MLB.com, Puig has had the injury for at least two weeks, but the right fielder feels he can be back out on the field in a week.

“Yasiel is disappointed. He thinks he’ll be ready in four to five days. That’s the tough part. We’ve seen that Yasiel plays at one speed. There’s no real putting a governor on him. It’s tough for him to say, ‘Back off.’ We’ll protect him from himself,” Dodgers skipper Don Mattingly tells MLB.com

The Dodgers also placed relief Joel Peralta on the 15-day DL, who is suffering from a dead arm, which officials feel could be from a pinched nerve near his neck.

The St. Louis Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a Left Achilles injury that he suffered to has left ankle. Wainwright sustained the injury on Saturday after running after the batters box on a fifth inning pop-up off his bat. The starter is scheduled to have an MRI on Monday to determine the extent of the injury and how long he will be shelved.
