Yankees Keep Dealing And Add Two Pitching Prospects

The New York Yankees are looking to improve their starting pitching depth in the minors and on Wednesday they received Detroit’s #6 and #19 prospects in exchange for lefty Justin Wilson.

Miller arrived in New York when he was traded by the Pittsburgh Pirates on November 14th for Francisco Cervelli.

The California native appeared in 74 relief games for the Yankees, primarily as a seventh inning set up man for Dellin Betances and Andrew Miller, posting a 5-0 record, with a 3.10 ERA.

As for the prospects, #6 Luis Cessa was sent to the Tigers at last seasons trading deadline as part of the deal that sent Yoenis Cespedes to the New York Mets.

In 2015, Cessa spent time between Double-A and Triple-A and combined he was 8-10, with a 4.52 ERA, with 119 strike outs in 139.1 innings.

The #19 prospect, Chad Green, pitched in Double-A in 2015 and posted a 5-14 record, with a 3.93 ERA, with 137 strikeouts in 148.2 innings.
