2016 Trade Deadline Moved To August 1

espn.com

For the 2016 MLB Season, the trade deadline will not take place on July 31 but, on August 1  at 4:00pm for the first and only time according to MLB.com.

Since this is a leap year, July 31 will fall on a Sunday so, Commissioner Rob Manfred has made the move for the deadline to August 1, which is a Monday.

Sunday, July 31 has fifteen games scheduled for play, starting at 1:00pm in the afternoon and continuing throughout the day. On Monday, August 1 there will only be eight games played and they will all be taking place at night after the 4pm trade deadline.

Although this is just a one season change, it’s worth noting that an entire weekend worth of games will be played before the deadline will take place.

Now, there’s no saying that a one day extension will make a big difference, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
