AL Trade Update: Hamels Lands In Texas

Finally, Cole Hamels has found a new home. The lefty has spent his entire pro career with the Philadelphia Phillies and now he finds himself headed to the Texas Rangers.
Philadelphia is mired in last place without and hope for a playoff run this season, but the Rangers are just four games out of the Wild Card hunt and Hamels can be the key to getting them in the playoff’s.
So far in 2015, Hamels is 6-7, with a 3.64 ERA in 20 starts. The All-Star lefty has not won more than 10 games since the 2012 season where he finished 17-6.
According to MLB.com, the Phillies will receive a group of top prospects from the Rangers; #4 RHP Jake Thompson, #5 outfielder Nick Williams, #6 catcher Jorge Alfaro, #17 RHP Jerad Eickhoff and #29 RHP Alec Asher. Also part of the mix headed to Philadelphia is LHP Matt Harrison.
The Rangers will also receive LHP Jake Diekman and cash.
