After months of speculation and rumors swirling, left fielder Alex Gordon has re-signed with the Kansas City Royals, a deal that almost seems like a “no-brainer” to most.
Gordon’s leadership along with stellar play both offensively and defensively helped the Royals win their first World Series Championship in three decades. The deal that will keep the 31 year old in Kansas City is worth $72 million over four years, with $12 million in 2016, $16 million in 2017 and then $20 million in 2018 and 2019 and an option for 2020.
The three time All-Star and four time Gold Glove Award Winner was drafted in 2005 by the Royals. He has since become a staple with the club with clutch hits and outfield plays that Kansas City has come to depend on.
He finished last season with a .271 batting average along with 48 RBIs and 13 homers.
