Astros Sign Colby Rasmus
- Updated: January 20, 2015

The crazy offseason continues as the Houston Astros and free agent outfielder Colby Rasmus, agree on a one-year deal in the area of $8 million. This comes a few days after Houston traded to get Evan Gattis and a day after trading Dexter Fowler.
Rasmus, 28, is entering his seventh year in the major leagues and spent the last four in Toronto as a member of the Blue Jays. 2014 wasn’t the best of seasons for Rasmus as far as average is concerned, but he still did a good job in the power department hitting 18 home runs in a career-low 376 plate appearances.
Things are certainly changing in Houston and it looks like the Astros are really trying to make a run in 2015. Information on MLBTraderumors suggests that Rasmus and rigt-handed outfielder Jake Marisnick could split time in the outfield.
In order to make room for Rasmus on the 40-man roster, Houston has designated Carlos Corporan for assignment.
There are rumors still swirling that the Astros and free agent pitcher Ryan Vogelsong could potentially reach a deal in the coming days so stay tuned as the whirlwind of moves continues.
