Ben Zobrist Leading Royals To 15-7 Lopsided Win Over Tigers
Since being traded to the Royals from the A’s on July 28th, Ben Zobrist has caught on to the winning ways with his new team and taken off.
He is batting .336, with five home runs and 17 RBI’s, even enjoying a two homer game in just his third game with Kansas City and two four hit games so far with Thursday being the most recent game for that feat.
Since the trade the Royals are 21-12 and as of Friday, lead the AL Central by 13 games.
In Thursday’s pounding of the Tigers pitchers, Zobrist scored three times, on four singles and drove in two runs in six at bats. For the rest of the offense, Lorenzo Cain was 2 for 4, three runs and three RBI’s, which also included his 14th home run on the season. Eric Hosmer was 3 for 4, with an RBI, Kendrys Morales was 4 for 5, with three runs, a double and four RBIs.
Both starters didn’t fare well in the game, but the Royals bullpen took over when it mattered the most and shut down the Tigers only allowing a run in six innings of work.
Miguel Cabrera added two more hits as his MLB leading batting average soared to .361.
This just may be the year that the Royals take it all and the acquisition of Ben Zobrist may prove to be the the turning point to an already tremendous season.
