Braves Matt Olson Wins Third Gold Glove
Atlanta Braves first baseman Matt Olson had an amazing season, and he was rewarded by winning the National League Gold Glove at first base. This award is given to the best defensive players in Major League Baseball, and Olson proved all year that he is one of the best.
Olson was not only great on defense. He was also strong at the plate. This season, he hit 29 home runs, drove in 95 RBIs, and finished with a .272 batting average and an .850 OPS. He was also #6 in all of MLB in quality at-bats, which means he often put together smart, tough, and productive trips to the batter’s box.
Another impressive part of Olson’s career is his toughness. He has played 782 consecutive games, which makes him #12 all-time in MLB history for most games played in a row. Showing up to play every single day is hard, but Olson continues to be one of the most reliable players in baseball.
With great defense, strong hitting, and incredible consistency, Matt Olson proved why he is one of the top players in the game today. Braves fans did not have a lot to cheer for this year, but Olson’s Gold Glove season was certainly a bright spot.
