The wait is over! After months of negotiations, the Baltimore Orioles and Chris Davis have agreed to terms on a seven year deal that is reportedly worth $161 million according, to the MLB.com.
The contract, which is pending a physical, is said to be the second that the Orioles offered the 29-year -old, a previous $150 million deal was turned down by Davis earlier in the offseason. This news seems to end any speculation that free agent Yoenis Cespedes will join Baltimore which was reported this past week when it seemed that a Davis deal might not be possible.
Davis had a stellar 2015 season hitting .262 with 47 homers and 117 RBIs, even though the O’s failed to make the playoffs. Davis is the only Baltimore Orioles player to have hit over 40 homers in two different seasons, the first being 2013.
Retaining Davis will now help the Orioles stay contenders in the American League East, a division that has made a lot of moves this offseason.
