Class-A: BlueClaws Tromp Breaks Out With Seven RBI’s
Phillies prospect outfielder also homers twice in victory.
The Philadelphia Phillies outfield prospect Jiandido Tromp had a breakout day on Sunday with the Class-A affiliate Lakewood BlueClaws’ as he doubled, homered twice and drove in seven RBIs.
The 21-year old Aruba native, having just three hits in his previous nine games, including one home run. But the BlueClaw’s outfielder took advantage of the Rome Braves pitching and helped lead his team to a 13-3 victory.
The scoring started for Lakewood in the fourth and down 2-0, they would put up four runs on an RBI single from Damek Tomscha and a three run bomb from Tromp.
In the top of the fifth, the BlueClaws added six runs highlighted by a two run double from Kyle Martin, a single by Tomscha and another three run shot from Tromp.
The ‘Claws added three more runs to their lopsided victory in the top of the ninth, on a two-run triple from Cord Sandberg, who also scored on Tromp’s seventh RBI of the game via a double.
“It feels awesome, man, when something like this happens, you have to appreciate it and keep going from it,” Tromp told MLB.com.
