The New York Mets’ top ten prospect Michael Conforto is in his first full season with the organization and already looks like he is ready for a promotion to Double-A Binghamton.
The twenty-two year old outfielder is currently playing in the Florida State League with the St. Lucie Mets and is batting .313 along with six homers and 19 RBIs in 21 games this season. Along with those statistics, he hit his first home run in just his second game with St. Lucie in a game winning situation and he hit a grand slam in the Jackie Robinson game earlier this month.
Before the start of the 2015 season he was ranked as the 80th best prospect in baseball and his 2014 season is proof as to the reasoning behind his Top 100 ranking.
After being drafted tenth overall in the 2014 MLB Draft, Conforto signed and immediately began playing with the Class-A Short-Season Brooklyn Cyclones. In forty-two games with the Cyclones he had a .331 batting average along with three home runs, 19 RBIs and three stolen bases.
The Mets’ organization seems confident that Conforto won’t need much time in the Minor Leagues as he makes his way to Citi Field.
