Cubs Call Up Top Prospect Addison Russell
- Updated: April 21, 2015
In less than a week the Chicago Cubs have called up their top two prospects, first adding Kris Bryant on Friday and now calling up shortstop Addison Russell on Monday night.
According to MLB.com, Arismendy Alcantara is expected to the be optioned to Triple-A to make room for Russell.
Russell, who was batting .318 (14 for 44), with seven runs scored, four doubles, a home run and nine RBI’s with Triple-A Iowa Cubs, was traded to Chicago in the six-player deal, that sent Cubs pitcher Jeff Samardzija to Oakland on July 4, 2014.
The Cubs look to be serious about winning, especially with promoting their top two prospects now, and for Cubs fans that should be something to be excited about as the club looks to make a run at the Division Crown.
