1911 > Negro League legend Josh Gibson is born in Buena Vista, Georgia. Over the course of a 17-year career for the Homestead Grays and Pittsburgh Crawfords, the athletic catcher will be recognized as the most feared power hitter in Negro League history. Despite never getting to play in the Major Leagues, Gibson will be inducted to baseball’s Hall of Fame in 1972.
