The Atlanta Braves started the 2025 season 0-7 before they exploded for a 10-0 lopsided victory over the Miami Marlins, in Atlanta on April 4th. From that point on, they went 4-6, slowing climbing back at 5-13, but still not where they wanted to be.

During the 11 game stretch, the Braves split a series with the Marlins, and won 2 out of 3 from the Philadelphia Phillies at home, then went on the road and lost two out of three from both the Tampa Bay Rays and Toronto Blue Jays.

But a trip back to Truist Park, proved to be the recipe for success, as Atlanta opened a three-game series against the Minnesota Twins, who also looked to be turning the corner on their own slow start before heading to Atlanta.

In the opener on April 18, the Braves found themselves down 4-0 after four innings before they were able to climb back into the game at 4-1. With their backs up against the wall, staring at another defeat, the team finally got a jolt as the offense exploded for five runs in the bottom of the eighth to pull away to a 6-4 lead, setting up a perfect inning for Raisel Iglesias third save of the season.

On Saturday, both teams exchanged runs to a 2-2 tie through four innings, before the Twins jumped ahead in the sixth with a 3-2 lead. But the Braves answered right back with two in the bottom of the frame to to retake a lead, putting the game back in the hands of their closer for back to back days, and Iglesias didn’t disappoint securing his fourth save on the season.

On Sunday, Atlanta’s offense got going early, putting up runs in each of the first three innings to a 4-0 lead before the Twins pulled within 4-1 in the top of the fourth. But Atlanta’s pitching staff kept Minnesota in check, allowing just two runs on five hits, helping to secure a 6-2 victory and a sweep of the Twins.

Next to enter Truist Park, was the St. Louis Cardinals, who arrived for their opening game on Monday from New York after being swept in four games to the Mets.

The Braves once again found themselves down 3-2 late in the game, only to battle back with another 5-spot in the eighth inning to take a 7-3 lead heading into he ninth inning. But this time closer Iglesias was not as dominate as he allowed three runs in the ninth, before securing the 7-6 victory and the Braves fourth straight win.

With the win, the Braves are now 9-13, 6.5 games behind the first place Mets (16-7) and winners of six of their last 10 games.

An Atlanta team with this much talent, never expected to get out to such a slow start, but after a week of playing winning baseball, they are back on track, and ready to chase the top teams in the NL East.
