Free-agent starting pitcher Doug Fister is now a member of the Houston Astros.

The thirty-one-year-old signed a one year deal that is reportedly worth $7 million and includes several incentives that could make the deal worth up to $12 million. The addition of Fister will bring depth and experience to a young Astros’ lineup that includes not only American League Cy Young Winner Dallas Keuchel but also, Collin McHugh, Lance McCullers, Mike Fiers and Scott Feldman.

He spent the last two season’s with the Washington Nationals and has spent time with the Detroit Tigers and Seattle Mariners’ organizations. Fister’s 2015 season with the Nats was a bit rocky where he had just a 5-7 record in twenty-five games with a 4.19 ERA.

The right-hander has a career record of 65-63 and a 3.42 ERA in seven seasons.
