Eastern League Pitcher of the Week: Tate Scioneaux-Pirates

(Gabe Rodriguez)

The Eastern League is loaded with some of the best talent not only in Double-A play but in all of  baseball, making the weekly decision of who should be named the “best of the best” even harder. However, right-handed pitcher Tate Scioneaux has continued to put up zeroes making him the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week here at Legends on Deck.

Scioneaux, although a reliever for the Altoona Curve, has earned four wins in seven appearances, making him the Eastern League Wins Leader, even in a relief role! In his seven appearances, he has been on the hill for 13 scoreless innings with just seven hits allowed; striking out 13 and walking just 2.

In the last week he has earned two of those wins in 4.1 innings with his longest outing of the season on April 24 when he pitched three innings, striking out 4 hitters.

Tate Scioneaux was drafted in the 39th Round of the 2015 MLB Draft out of Southeastern Louisiana University. He continued to work his way through the Pittsburgh Pirates’ Organization
