Ex-Braves Lefty Max Fried Decides To Join Yankees For 8-Years, $218 Million
The Atlanta Braves former Ace Max Fried will join the New York Yankees starting rotation, as New York uses the loss of signing Juan Soto, and put the money towards the talented lefty.
Fried made his MLB debut with the Braves in 2017 and two years later he won 17 games. During the 2020 shortened season, Fried was 7-0, with a 2.25 ERA in 11 starts and then the following year, he won 14 games, and helped lead Atlanta to become World Champions.
Overall for the Braves, Fried was 73-36, with a career 3.07 ERA, 863 strike outs through 884.1 innings pitched.
With the addition of Fried (11-10, 3.25 ERA), the Yankees starting rotation now boasts, Gerrit Cole (8-5, 3.41 ERA), Carlos Rondon (16-9, 3.96 ERA), Luis Gil (15-7, 3.50 ERA), and Marcus Stroman (10-9, 4.31 ERA). New York will also look to get starts for Nestor Cortes (9-10, 3.77 ERA) and Clarke Schmidt (5-5, 2.85 ERA).
Earlier in the week, I wrote a post about how the Yankees not getting Soto was a blessing in disguise and now seeing them land a bona-fide lefty starter and All Star in Fried for $218 Million, the Yankees still have room for more additions if they wanted to use what they would have paid Soto.
