In just under two seasons, Lusignan has moved quickly through the Marlins farm system, starting out at Rookie and Low A ball in his first year of pro ball, then this season the Sorrento, Florida native started with Class-A Full Season Greensboro Grasshoppers and in 80 games, he batted .243, with 19 doubles, three triples, nine home runs and 49 RBIs.
On July 15th, he was promoted to Class-A Advanced Jupiter Hammerheads and it only took about a week for him to get very comfortable.
On July 23rd, he recorded a 4-hit game, getting his first home run and RBI at the next level. He then went on a tear recording multi-hit games in his next four games, which also included his second home run with the Hammerheads.
On July 29th he went hitless stopping his streak, but on Sunday he got back to work recording two more hits, which were two home runs in the game as he also drove in five.
He is currently batting .339 (20 for 59), with 10 runs scored, three doubles, four home runs and 11 RBIs with the Hammerheads.
Lusignan’s hot hitting has also helped to propel the Hammerheads into a winning streak, as they currently have a seven game winning streak, after defeating the Lakeland Flying Tigers 6-5 on Sunday.
Over the week spanning July 24-30, Lusignan batted .455 (10 for 22), with five runs scored, a double, three home runs, and 10 RBIs.
Congratulations to Colby Lusignan for being named Legends on Deck’s Florida State League Player of the Week.
