Florida State Player of the Week: 2B Shed Long – Reds

Congratulations to Daytona Tortugas second baseman Shed Long for being named Legends on Deck’s Florida State League Player of the Week for May 22-28.
The Cincinnati Reds drafted Shed Long in the 12th round of the 2013 MLB June Amateur draft.

The 2016 season was Long’s breakout year in the minors as he hit .293, with 140 hits, 69 runs, 15 home runs, 75 RBI and 54 walks in 132 games combined between Class-A Full Season Dayton Dragons and the Class-A Advanced Tortugas.
This season, the Birmingham, AL native is batting .324, with 26 runs, 11 doubles, a triple, eight home runs, and 29 RBIs in 47 games.
From May 7-27, Long recorded a hit in 12 of 19 games, with a minimum of two hits in each game.
During the week of May 22-28, Long batted .391 (9 for 23), with seven runs, a double, three home runs, five RBIs and three walks.
On May 27, Long finished the game 3 for 4, with three runs scored, hit two home runs and drove in four.
