FSL: Lakeland Flying Tigers Are 12-2 In The Month of July

The Lakeland Flying Tigers, Low A Ball affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, finished the first half of the Florida State League season in dead last at 26-39.

The Flying Tigers won the last game of the first half, 13-4 over the Bradenton Marauders, but then proceeded to start the second half with a five game losing streak.

On June 30th, they snapped their losing streak with a 7-2 victory over the Fort Myers Mussels and that win propelled the team to 12 straight victories overall.

In that stretch they took four out of six from the Mussels, swept the six-game series with the St Lucie Mets, and took the first two against the Tampa Tarpons, before dropping the rubber game and ending the streak.

Lakeland, started a six-game series with the Dunedin Blue Jays on July 18th, winning game one 4-3, then dropping game two 9-8. Overall for the month, they are 12-2, and 13-7 in the second half, sitting in third place in the Florida State League West division.
