The Blue Jays took another step closer to first as they beat New York in front of 42,034 fans at Yankee Stadium to complete the three-game sweep and pull within 1.5 games of the lead.

The Jays sent Marco Estrada to the mound to face off against Yanks righty Masahiro Tanaka.

Estrada lasted 6.1 innings, allowing just three hits, walking three and fanning six batters and Tanaka matched him with six innings of his own, but allowed three hits, two of which were home runs, without a walk and five strike outs.

Toronto scored their runs early with one in the first on a blast from Josh Donaldson, his 31st of the year, and another in the fourth on Jose Bautista‘s 26th dinger of the season. The Yankees managed just three singles in the loss.
