On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Dodgers added free agent left hander Scott Kazmir to their starting rotation. Kazmir, who will be the Dodgers fifth starting lefty, is reported to earn $48 million dollars in the next three years.
Kazmir was traded to the Houston Astros from the Oakland A’s on July 23, 2015 for two minor leaguers. During Houston’s playoff run last season, he was 2-6, with a 4.17 ERA in 13 starts. In the ALDS against the Kansas City Royals, he received a no decision in one start tossing five innings, allowing three runs, on five hits, with four strikeouts.
In 2015, he had his first losing season since 2010 (9-15), recording a combined 7-11 record with both the A’s and Astros, a 3.10 ERA, and 155 strikeouts in 183 innings.
The three-time all-star has pitched for five different organizations, all in the American League, and together he is 98-90, with a 3.96 ERA, and 1474 strikeouts in 1553.1 innings.
