Larson Takes Command at Kansas as Cup Chase Tightens Behind Him
Kyle Larson turned Sunday’s Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway into a statement win, leading a track-record 235 of 267 laps. He swept both stages, earned the fastest-lap bonus and took the maximum 76 points available. Austin Cindric finished second and Denny Hamlin third.
Larson had to earn it late. Chase Briscoe got past him for the lead on a long run, but Larson found grip, retook the top spot with eight laps remaining and held on. The victory was his second in the first four races of the 2026 Cup Series Chase, increasing his lead over Hamlin from one point to 26 with six races left.
The Wreck That Changed the Picture
A multicar crash on the Lap 123 restart damaged several contenders. Carson Hocevar collided with Ty Gibbs as the field packed together, and Bubba Wallace was among those caught in the incident. Wallace recovered to finish ninth, but Hocevar’s damaged car limped home 33rd, three laps down. Hocevar dropped from eighth to 11th in the Chase standings and now trails Larson by 150 points.
Cindric made one of the weekend’s biggest gains, collecting 52 points and climbing from 11th to ninth in the standings. Christopher Bell moved ahead of Joey Logano into third. Logano finished 20th after a late tire problem.

Craftsman Truck Series Sidenote
Kaden Honeycutt won Saturday’s Truck Series race at Kansas, leading 111 of 134 laps and winning both stages. A rain delay lasted nearly five hours. Layne Riggs challenged late but brushed the wall and finished 19th; Honeycutt leaves Kansas 37 points ahead of Riggs.
The Trucks use the same 2026 race scoring system as Cup: 55 points for a win, 35 for second, 34 for third and one fewer point for each place after that. The top 10 in each of the first two stages earn 10 points down to one. The top 10 drivers entered a seven-race Chase after one points reset. There are no eliminations; the points leader after the finale is champion.
