Team: Twins
Age: 21
Height: 6’4
Weight: 235
Bats/Throws: Right/Right
After a breakout 2013 that saw him mash 35 homers and 30 doubles, Sano lost all of his 2014 season to Tommy John surgery in his throwing arm.
When healthy, the Dominican native has top shelf power that rivals any player in the minors. His hit tool projects to be at least average, which will easily allow the power to show in games. The 21-year old shows a patient approach at the plate, willing to take a walk. However he will swing and miss a lot, especially inside the zone. Defensively it remains to be seen if Sano can return to third base after surgery, where he was below average to begin with.
Outlook: Sano is going to be a stud clean up hitter that could hit 30-40+ homers and post high OBP’s. What position he does it from, whether third, first base or a corner out fielder spot is no matter.
Risk: Medium. Needs to bounce back from injury and cut down on strikeouts.
