The Macon Bacon are one of the few franchises in baseball that dare to name themselves after a food item. And guess what? It works. The Bacon play in the Coastal Plain League, a summer collegiate league that spans across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia. They play home games at Historic Luther Williams Field, built in 1937.
Bacon President Brandon Raphael joins Brian and David to discuss his career in baseball. Brandon has a long history working in the game, beginning over 20 years ago with the Las Vegas 51s. He’s learned the baseball business from variety of perspectives and he tells his story of the experiences that led him to Macon, Georgia. Brandon is also a partner in the Florence Flamingos, the only team in sports who wears all pink uniforms. Together, the Bacon and Flamingos make the CPL one of the most exciting places to play summer ball.
