3 Players to Watch Miami Marlins

For this series, LOD writers will pick three players from each MLB team that we feel are players to watch in the 2023 season.

The Miami Marlins continue to look for the right key players to compete in that tough National East Division. With the acquisitions of some AllStar players, they are looking to make a run for the top.

Sandy Alcantara: after coming out of a 202 strikeouts season, The National League’s 2022 M.V.P Sandy is poised for a repeat 200-plus Strikeouts season for the Marlins. Another critical point is that Sandy started 32 games in 2022 and pitched six complete games with a 2.28 ERA. Giving up 174 hits and 58 earned runs while facing 886 adds to a solid season.

Finally, with the runs support and the team’s defense behind Sandy, we may be in for some exciting baseball games from the Miami Marlins.

Luis Arraez, Adding an All-Star to your team is always good, and the Marlins landed Arraez in Miami. So, in addition to the Marlins NL All-Star Jazz Chisholm, this will be interesting.

Coming off an All-Star season with the Twins, Luis expects to add firepower to the line-up. With 173 hits in 88 games for a .336 batting average, the Marlins can use these numbers to their advantage.

As for Luis Arraez, who spent the last two weeks playing the 2023 World Baseball Classic for Venezuela, now that he is back at spring training, it’s time to concentrate on the 2023 MLB season—speaking about the 2023 WBC, what a display of baseball talent from all over the World. I can’t wait for WBC 2026. Check out this home run by Luis Arraez.

Another Key Point for the Marlins is that their 2022 N.L. All-Star second baseman is willing to move to centerfield. Additionally, this move made way for the two newest Marlins. Along with Luis Arraez, the Marlins also picked up Jean Segura. So, with the infield sure up, Jazz will move to center field.

Moreover, coming off the 60-day disabled list just in time for spring training, Jazz looks forward to a healthy 2023 season. So, from an All-Star second baseman to an All-Star Centerfielder? Let’s make it happen; The Kid.

Jazz Chisholm Jr speed in the outfield should allow him to make up and cover a lot of grounds out there. Moreover, the Marlins are surging up the team’s 2023 play with some off-season acquisitions to build up the defense. So, to this, I say let’s get ready for an exciting 2023 MLB season.

Miami Marlins 2023 Season:

I would have loved to see Jazz played in the 2023 World Baseball Classic for Great Britain.

I look forward to following the Miami Marlins this season; Go, Marlins!!!

Jeffrey was born on April 29th, 1961, in Nassau, Bahamas to Rejoiner Ann Rolle and Jerome James Francis Etienne. Married to Andrea G. Rolle-Francis, they have two daughters; Janae Latoya Francis, a graduate of Allegany College of Maryland, and Jessica Lee Francis a graduate Potomac State College West Virginia University in Kyser West Virginia. Jeffrey was coaching the sport of baseball from 1980 at the age of 18 years old because he loved the sport as a kid. He started listening to the game over the radio out of Miami Florida in the late 60s and in the early 70s started playing the game locally in various local leagues right up to the premier senior league; a league where all of the current Bahamian minor leaguers played. In 1982, Jeffrey had an invite to a three day tryout with the New York Yankees in Hollywood Florida, which was an awesome experience that is lasting a life time memory for him. Jeffrey has been following the Bahamian baseball players in the minor leagues since 1999 with Angelo Burrows, but found greater interest with the signing of Antoan Richardson in 2005. He also writes a year end review on their play on his Facebook page, Baseball Bahamas, and he has a website with the same name. He has a great following and would love to expose the baseball players to a bigger worldwide audience. He has a good relationship with all the players because he personally coached most of them. His favorite MLB Team is the Detroit Tigers from 1969.
