LOD’s MiLB Offensive Players Of The Week

The MiLB season is in full swing and there are some standout players tearing it up in the last seven days. Let’s dive into the list:

International League (AAA)

Matt McLain, SS – Louisville Bats (Cincinnati Reds)

McLain, a 1st round pick of the Reds  in the 2021 MLB June Draft, is currently batting .333 (39 for 117), with 10 doubles, a triple, nine home runs, 32 RBIs and 22 walks. Over his last seven days, he is batting .440 (11 for 25), with five runs scored, a triple, two home runs and 11 RBIs, and has a 4-game hitting streak, with 4-hit and 3-hit games in that span.

Pacific League (AAA)

Justin Dirden, RF – Sugar Land Space Cowboys (Houston Astros)

Dirden was signed as a free agent in 2020 by the Houston Astros to a minor league contract. He has put up big numbers in his journey through the minors and so far this season is no different as he is batting .269 (28 for 104), with 12 runs, seven doubles, two triples, five home runs and 10 RBIs.  Over his last seven days, he has been on a tear batting .500 (13 for 26), with seven runs, four doubles, a triple, four home runs, and 15 RBIs through five games. On May 8th, he was named the Pacific League Player of the Week.

Eastern League (AA)

Ethan Wilson, OF – Reading Fighting Phils (Philadelphia Phillies)

Wilson was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2021 June draft by the Phillies. He is currently batting .377 (20 for 53), with 12 runs scored, four doubles, a triple, five home runs, and 18 RBIs. Over the past seven days, he is batting .480 (12 for 25), with seven runs scored, three doubles, three home runs and 11 RBIs.  Wilson has a five game hitting streak and all five are multi-hit games.

Southern League (AA)

Noelvi Marte, SS – Chattanooga Lookouts (Cincinnati Reds)

Marte was signed as an International Free Agent by the Seattle Mariners in 2018 to a minor league contract. On July 30, 2022, he was part of the trade to the Reds from the Mariners that sent RHP Luis Castillo to Seattle. Currently he is batting .277 (28 for 101) with 18 runs scored, four doubles, a triple, five home runs, 16 RBIs and 11 walks. Over his last seven days, Marte is batting .471 (10 for 24), with six runs scored, a double, four home runs and 11 RBIs. He currently has a six game hitting streak and has hit safely in 11 of his last 13 games, with 7 multi-hit games in the span.

Texas League (AA)

Eddys Leonard, SS – Tulsa Drillers (Los Angeles Dodgers)

Leonard was signed by the Dodgers to an International free agent minor league contract on July 3, 2017. He has had a very slow start to his season as his overall batting average is just .211 (19 for 90).  But over his last seven days, he is batting .500 (10 for 20), with five runs scored, four doubles, two home runs, and six RBIs. The Dominican Repulic native has hit safely in 6 of his last 7 games.

South Atlantic League (High A)

Marcelo Mayer, SS – Greenville Drive (Boston Red Sox)

Mayer was drafted by the Red Sox in the 1st round of the 2021 MLB draft and is currently batting .337 (33 for 98), with 17 runs scored, 10 doubles, a triple, four home runs and 23 RBIs. Over the last seven days, he is batting .516 (16 for 31), with eight runs scored, six doubles, three home runs, and 12 RBIs. Mayer has a seven game hitting streak, with 5 multi-hit games and two 4-hit games in that span. He has also hit safely in 16 of his last 20 games.

Midwest League (High A)

Austin Gauthier, SS – Great Lakes Loons (Los Angeles Dodgers)

Gauthier was signed as a free agent by the Dodgers on August 4, 2021 to a minor league contract. The Cheyenne, WY native is currently batting .429 (36 for 84) with, 23 runs scored, seven doubles, a triple, two home runs and 10 RBIs. Over his last seven days, Gauthier is batting .579 (11 for 19), with six runs scored, two doubles, a triple, home run, eight RBIs and nine walks. He recently had a 13 game hitting streak, and has hit safely in 20 of his last 23 games dating back to the beginning of his season on April 7th.

Northwest League (High A)

Jordan Beck, RF – Spokane Indians (Colorado Rockies)

Beck was drafted by the Rockies in the 2022 CB-A draft. He is currentlt batting .286 (24 for 84), with 15 runs scored, five doubles, seven home runs and 24 RBIs. Over hsi last seven days, Beck is batting .440 (11 for 25), with six runs scored, two doubles, four home runs and 12 RBIs. He currently has a 10 game hitting streak, and has hit safely in 13 of his last 14 games.

Carolina League (A)

Brooks Baldwin, 3B – Kannapolis Cannon Ballers (Chicago White Sox)

Baldwin was selected in the 12th round of the 2022 June draft by the White Sox. He is currently batting .322 (19 for 59) with 13 runs scored, seven doubles, a triple, two home runs, 20 RBIs and 19 walks. Over his last seven days, he is batting .375 (9 for 24), with five runs scored, two doubles, a triple, two home runs, and eight RBIs. Baldwin recently had a five game hitting streak and has hit safely in 6 of his last 7 games.

Florida State League (A)

Michael Curialle, 3B – Palm Beach Cardinals (St. Louis Cardinals)

Curialle was selected in the 12th round of the 2022 MLB June draft by the Cardinals. Currently he is batting .405 (34 for 84), with 25 runs scored, 11 doubles, two triples, a home run, 15 RBIs and 21 walks. Over his last seven days, Curialle is batting .706 (12 for 17), with nine runs scored, three doubles, a triple, four RBIs and nine walks. Curialle has hit safely in six of his last seven games.

California league (A)

Mike Peabody, OF – Inland Empire 66ers (Los Angeles Angels)

Peabody was signed as a free agent by the Angels in 2021 to a minor league contract. he is corrently batting .294 (10 for 34), with six runs scored, a double, two home runs and seven RBIs. Over his last seven days, Peabody is batting .429 (9 for 21), with a double, two home runs, and seven RBIs. He also has a six game hitting streak, with three multi-hit games in the span.
