The New York Mets’ rookie, LHP Steven Matz won’t make his upcoming start this Sunday due to a partially torn lat muscle on his left side.
In his first start, he went 3 for 3 and racking up 4 RBIs and got his first big league win while being tagged for two runs on five hits while striking out six batters in seven and two-thirds innings. After which he apparently started feeling discomfort and apparently his last start aggravated it even more.
He has received a platelet-rich plasma injection and is projected to miss at least three weeks which starts with his next scheduled start on Sunday against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The 24 year old, who was second round draft pick in 2009 is currently 2-0 and in his previous start on Sunday he went pitched six shutout innings allowing just two hits while striking out an impressive eight batters and racked up another RBI.
