The Fort Myers Mighty Mussels will open up the Single-A Florida State League season on Friday April 4 at the Palm Beach Cardinals and will then return to their home park at Hammond Stadium for their season opener on April 8th.
The Mussels will have a 29 man roster, with three players from the Minnesota Twins Top 30 Prospect list.
Dasan Hill (#13), a lefthanded pitcher, was drafted in the CB-B Round of the 2024 draft (69th Overall Pick) out of Grapevine High School in Grapevine, Texas. Hill will get his first pro-ball experience with the Mussels this season.
Yasser Mercedes (#20), an outfielder out of Puerto Rico, has been with the Twins organization since the 2022 season and will be playing in his second season with the Mussels. Last season he started the Florida Complex League and batted .331 in 54 games, then moved up to the Mussels where he was limited to just 10 games due to a season ending injury.
Dameury Pena (#25), a shortstop, was signed out of the Dominican Republic and played his first pro ball season in 2023 with the Twins Dominican Summer League. In 39 games, Pena batted .382, with eight doubles, three triples, while also swiping 13 of 17 bases. Then in 2024, he was moved up to the Florida Complex League and in 36 games, the Bonao, Dominican Republic native batted .282, with four doubles, a triple, and three home runs.
The Mighty Mussels will have a 29 man roster (15 pitcher and 14 position players) and will be led by new skipper Seth Feldman. The new manager led the twins Dominican Summer League in 2019 and 2021, then was promoted to lead the Florida Complex League Twins from 2022-2024.
Along with Feldman, the Mussels will return three coaches from the 2024 season, hitting coach Luis Reyes, pitching coach Richard Salazar and strength and conditioning coach Matt Anti. New to the Mussels coaching staff will be hitting coach Andrew Parks, pitching coach Anders Dzurak, lead athletic trainer Charysse Berkowski, athletic trainer Thaddeus Hayes, and coordinator/baseball technology Jeremy Miranda.
