MLB Opening Day 2023: Games To Watch

The long awaited 2023 MLB baseball season is upon us finally!!

After the last out of the 2022 World Series, baseball fans all over the country have been waiting desperately for their teams to start another season. The offseason was exciting for some and even if there were teams that did not make a splash to improve their teams, Opening Day is always a Huge holiday for almost all baseball fans.

With the World Baseball Classic taking center stage this spring, it brought a different type of excitement to the new season, as the anticipation to finally get regular season games underway, is at an all time high.

What players will stand out from the rest, who will lead in wins, or saves on the mound, what stars will get going faster than others and what teams will dominate the first half?  With baseball there are so many questions to ask and so many ways it can be answered and its only day one.

Games To Watch on Day One

Jacob deGrom gets the start for the Texas Rangers against the defending NL champs, the Philadelphia Phillies. Even though deGrom is now in the American League, he has faced the Phillies in his tenure with the New York Mets, so the hope is that he has the upper-hand. But the game today comes with a bit more drama, as he will prove that he is healthy enough to pitch a whole season and help the Rangers win the division and maybe even more. Can deGrom get off to a great start and showcase the Cy Young dominance again? We are all excited to see: First pitch at 4:05 PM.

The New York Mets are coming off a successful regular season in 2022, when they won 101 games, tying the Atlanta Braves in wins in the NL East. But the down side was losing the NL East crown down the stretch and bowing out in the Wild Card series to the San Diego Padres. How will the Mets start off the season as they open up against the Miami Marlins who have given them fits for years. Max Scherzer takes the mound and will look to erase in the minds of Mets fans his horrible start in the postseason and give hope for a better ending in 2023. First pitch at 4:10 PM.

Shohei Ohtani is coming off one of the most dominating performances of any ball player in the World Baseball Classic history as he was unhittable on the mound and dominate at the plate to help Team Japan win the tournament championship.  With such excitement and thrilling games during the classic, can he channel that same feeling into opening day and bring the same dominance to the mound today as the Los Angeles Angels open up against their division rivals the Oakland A’s. A great outing from Ohtani can get the season started in the right direction for the Angels, something the fans and team need in 2023. First Pitch 7:07 PM PCT.

The Los Angeles Dodgers need a great start against the Arizona D-Backs to erase the embarrassment of the 2022 postseason when they bowed out in the NLDS after winning 111 games in the regular season. With a different lineup after losing stars Justin Turner and Tre Turner to free agency, do they still have enough fire power in the tank to withstand a run by the Padres who are built to win a World Championship. First Pitch 7:10 PM PCT.

The San Diego Padres as mentioned above are built to win it all. With Juan Soto, Manny Machado, Xander Bogaerts, a healthy and renewed Fernando Tatis Jr. ageless Nelson Cruz and a pitching staff that can shutdown any team, we may be looking at a Dynasty in the making and the one team that can dethrone the Mighty Dodgers. It all starts against the Colorado Rockies in San Diego. First Pitch at 6:40 PM.

There are many teams looking for that first win of the season, but what counts is the last game of  the 2023 World Series and who ends up on top.

Who will get the jump on 2023 and ride a wave to the postseason?  Which rookies will stand out and put their names in the record books? Who will be that comeback player of the year? Will the stars align for the favorites or will there be a team like the Phillies who shock the baseball world?

Its Baseball and It starts today!! Play Ball!!
