MLB Rookies On Deck: CF Corbin Carroll – Diamondbacks
Arizona Diamondbacks centerfielder Corbin Carroll made his MLB on August 29, 2022 and spanning 32 games he batted .260, with 13 runs scored, nine doubles, two triples, four home runs and 14 RBIs. Not bad for a sample amount of games in the majors to showcase his skills.
The Seattle, WA native was drafted in the 1st round of the 2019 June draft out of Lakeside High School (Seattle). In his first pro ball season with Arizona, he batted .299 with nine doubles, seven triples, two home runs and 20 RBIs between Rookie League and Short A ball.
In 2021, he played in only seven games in High A ball, before missing the season due to an injury, and batted .435 (10 for 23). The next season he was sent to play in Double A and Triple A and between the two he batted .310, with 22 doubles, eight triples, 24 home runs, 62 RBIs and 67 walks in 93 games.
After his promotion to the bigs, he played like he belonged, and he finished out the season with a 2 for 3 day, two doubles, a walk and stolen base.
Now in 2023, Carroll is currently enjoying an eight game hitting streak with the big club, batting .444 (12 for 27), with eight runs scored, four doubles, a triple, RBI and five walks. On the season, he has recorded nine multi-hit games (3 hits twice, 2 hits seven times), while helping to lead Arizona to a 16-13 start to the season and only .5 game behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West.
Amongst the team individual stats, Carroll leads in games (28), runs (19), hits (30), tied for first in doubles (8), tied for first in home runs (4), stolen bases (10), batting average (.309), on-base % (.374), slug% (.536) and OPS (.910). Amongst other MLB Rookies, Carroll leads in runs, hits, and doubles.
Purely a great ball player, having a special year, with the hopes of leading the D-Backs back to the postseason for the first time since the 2017 Wild Card berth.
