Mud Hens Break out the Big Sticks to Beat the Bats 7-4
On Friday night in front of over 8,600 fans, the Toledo Mud Hens powered their way past the Louisville Bats. Wearing their Margaritaville Weekend uniforms, the Hens poured it on with seven runs on eight hits. In the third inning, Jace Jung (Tigers #3 prospect) put up a three run homer into right field, his 14th of the season. Jung also earned a fourth RBI in the sixth with a sacrifice fly.

Catcher Dillon Dingler (Tigers #11 prospect) blasted a three run, team leading 17th homer in the bottom of the seventh. Dingler is second in the International League in batting average (.308) and fifth in OPS (.933). It will be interesting to see when he gets the call up to Detroit.

Akil Baddoo added two doubles to the board, as he’s continues to be productive for the Mud Hens in the leadoff spot.

Spencer Torkelson was on base for both Hens homers. He went 1-4 with a walk as he continues to regain his footing in Triple A.

Despite a four run effort to come back in the ninth inning, the Bats went scoreless for the first eight. Brant Hurter threw a seven inning gem, giving up no runs and striking out six to get the win for the Mud Hens. The Mud Hens and Bats are back at it tonight at Fifth Third Field in Toledo.
