On Thursday, the Minnesota Twins are calling up another prized possession from their minor league system and this time it’s third baseman Miguel Sano.
On June 14, the long awaited debut of their #1 prospect Byron Buxton became a reality and now they are rewarding Sano for his outstanding season so far in 2015.
In 66 games with the Twins Double-A affiliate, Chattanooga Lookouts, Sano was batting .274, with 55 runs scored, 18 doubles, 15 home runs, 48 RBIs, and 38 walks in 286 plate appearances. In his minor league career, Sano is batting .278, with 105 home runs and 339 RBIs in 445 games dating back to 2010.
According to MiLB.com, the Twins plan on optioning Kennys Vargas to the Lookouts, making way for Sano’s arrival and he is expected to be join the squad before Friday’s game against the Kansas City Royals.
A great season so far watching talented prospects make their way to the bigs.
