NLCS Preview: Chicago Cubs At New York Mets
When it comes to the National League Championship Series, whether you are a fan or not, nobody can disagree that the Chicago Cubs and New York Mets have waited a long time to not only get back into the postseason but also battle for a trip to the World Series. Together the Cubs and Mets entered this season with a combined eleven straight losing seasons, proving how important this is to both. So, to get ready for this epic battle, here is what you need to know:
When: Saturday, October 17,2015 at 7:30pm
Where: Citi Field
The Matchup:
Chicago Cubs:
Veteran Jon Lester will take the hill for the Cubs in this Game 1 match-up, as he has had success against the Mets this season. In two starts against New York in 2015, Lester was 1-0 with just a combined four runs allowed, holding the Mets to a .208 batting average. The lefty started the first game of the NLDS against the St. Louis Cardinals, and pitched considerably well, but ended in a loss in a seven and one third inning outing.
New York Mets:
Matt Harvey will counter for the Mets in Game 1 in front of a home crowd that has been patiently waiting for this series for the past few years. The right-hander has only pitched against the Cubs once in 2015 which featured a seven inning outing, with just three hits allowed, striking out nine and getting a no-decision. Harvey’s record at home does play in his and the Mets’ favor with a 8-3 record at Citi Field. Harvey’s last outing was in Game 3 of the NLDS against the Dodgers when he allowed three runs in the first inning but was able to bounce back and was supported by his powerful offense to get the win.
