This winter has been one to remember for the San Diego Padres. First they attacked the off-season stronger than any other club and after a flurry of trades and signings they came away with nearly a revamped team.
By adding just Matt Kemp, Wil Myers and Justin Upton to their outfield alone, they changed the face of their defense and added much more star power to their offense.
New GM A.J. Preller has done his part to bring exciting baseball back to the San Diego and now the stars will align even more as the Padres were selected to host the 2016 MLB All Star Game.
The last time the city of San Diego hosted the star studded event was in 1992 at the old Jack Murphy Stadium. In that game the fans saw Ted Williams throw out the first pitch, the American League pounded the National League 13-6, and Ken Griffey Jr winning the MVP. The Padres were also well represented with three of their own starters, catcher Benito Santiago, first baseman Fred McGriff, and outfielder Tony Gwynn.
