Prospects on Deck: LHP – Kyle Harrison – Giants
The San Francisco Giants selected pitcher Kyle Harrison in the 3rd Round of the 2020 June draft out of De La Salle High School in Concord, California.
Due to the Covid Pandemic, all of minor league baseball was shutdown in 2020, so Harrison didn’t get his pro career started until the 2021 season.
The Giants sent Harrison to the California League (Low A) and in 23 starts, he was 4-3, with a 3.19 ERA, with 157 strikeout through 98.2 innings.
Last season, he started out in High A and ins even started he was 0-1, with a 1.55 ERA, recorded 59 strikeouts in 29 innings with opponents batting just .179 against him.
He was then promoted to Double A, and the lefty started in 18 games and continued to dominate as he struck out 127 batters in 84 innings pitched. He finished the season 4-2, with a 3.11 ERA.
The MLB #18 Top Prospect on the Top 100 list and #1 on the Giants Top Prospect list, has dominated in the minors with missing bats and has the stuff to pitch with the big club.
In his first Spring training outing, he allowed two runs on three hits and struck out a batter. He is expected to make his MLB debut sometime this summer, but hard to say if he will break camp with the club. It won’t hurt to get some extra miles prior to getting called up but expect to see him with the big club in 2023.
