Prospects On Deck: OF Jase Bowen – Pirates
In 2019, the Pittsburgh Pirates chose Jase Bowen as their 334th pick of Round 11 and in just two short seasons, he is proving to the Pirates and their fans that they made the right choice.
Bowen, a product of Central Catholic in Toledo, Ohio, and #30 on the Pirates Top Prospects list, is having a great second half of baseball. In his second season with the Low A Marauders, spanning 94 games thus far, Bowen has bested his numbers from the 2021 campaign, with still about a month a half of games to go.
In 2021, Bowen batted .220 (78 for 354), with 51 runs, 12 doubles, two triples, 14 home runs, 60 RBI, 32 walks and 16 stolen bases in 103 games. As of Aug 3rd games, he has a better batting average at .280, has 97 hits in 347 at bats, 58 runs, 17 doubles, two triples, 13 home runs, 61 RBI’s, 38 walks and 20 stolen bases.
Over the past 15 games, the Northwood, Ohio native is batting .359 (14 for 39), with 11 runs, three homers and 11 RBIs. Actually the three home runs have come over the past five games, as he hit one on July 29th and then two on July 31st.
In June, Bowen hit safely in 19 of the 25 games, with eight multi-hit games and enjoyed an 8-game hitting streak and also a 12-game hitting streak. In the month of July, he hit safely in 19 of 24 games, with 7 multi-hit games, while enjoying a four, five and six game hitting streaks.
On July 31, 2022 he was awarded with the Florida State League Player of the Week and he is currently on a three game hitting streak entering August 4th games.
