Prospects on Deck: Top Hitters In The MiLB

The MiLB season is in full swing and there are a few hitters that are tearing it up over the last week.

Triple A

Jhonkensy Noel – Cleveland Guardians

Noel is in his sixth season with the Guardians Farm System. He currently has an 8-game hitting streak with the Columbus Clippers, including four straight mutli-hit games. Over the span, Noel is batting 12 for 24 (.500), with five runs scored, a doubles, four home runs, and seven RBIs. The #26 Top Prospect for Cleveland is tied for second in the International League with 12 home runs, and on pace to surpass his career high of 32 home runs from 2022.

Shay Whitcomb – Houston Astros

Whitcomb is in his fourth season with the Astros Farm System. He currently has an 8-game hitting streak with the Sugar Land Space Cowboys, with six multi-hit games. Included in the streak, he had a 4-hit game, a two-homer game and back to back solo home run games. Over the span of the hitting streak, Whitcomb is batting 17 for 33 (.515), with 10 runs scored, a double, two triples, four home runs, and 10 RBIs. Whitcomb is on track to at least come close to his home run totals in 35 in 2023. he is ranked in the Top 10 in home runs (9), and RBIs (38) in the Pacific Coast League.

High A

Tre’ Morgan – Tampa Bay Rays

Morgan is in his second season with the Rays Farm System. He started the season with the Charleston RiverDogs (Low A) before being promoted to the Bowling Green Hot Rods (High A) on May 12th. He is currently on a 5-game hitting with the Hot Rods and has hit safely in 11 of his last 12 games, dating back to May 7th with the RiverDogs.  During his current 5- game hitting streak, The #13 Miami Top Prospect is batting 12 for 17 (.705), with four runs scored, six doubles, a home runs, six RBIs and four straight multi-hit games.

Josh Zamora – Miami Marlins

Zamora is in his third season with the Marlins Farm System. He is currently enjoying an 11-game hitting streak with the Beloit Sky Carp, batting 17 for 42 (.404), with eight runs scored, two doubles, five home runs, 14 RBIs and has five multi-hit games in the span. He is batting a career high .284 and is in the Top 10 in the Midwest League in Home runs (9), and RBIs (29).

Robby Martin Jr. – Colorado Rockies

Martin Jr. is in his fourth season in the Rockies Farm System. He is currently on a five-game hitting streak, with five straight multi-hit games, while batting 11 for 20 (.550) in that span. Three of his four home runs on the season have come in the last week, as he hit a solo shot on May 19th and hit two on May 21st. He is in the Top 10 in the Northwest League in hits (38), Home runs (4) and the leader with 26 RBIs.

Low A

Anthony Scull – Los Angeles Angels

Scull is in his fourth season with the Angels Farm System. He currently has a seven game hitting streak, batting 16 for 28 (.571), with six straight multi-hit games. A career .281 minor league hitter, Scull is in the Top 10 in the California League in hits (42). Through the span of the hitting streak, he also has seven runs scored, five doubles, a home run, and 10 RBIs.
