Quad Cities River Bandits Win 12th Straight Game
Will the Quad City River Bandits lose again?
On Monday the Houston Astros Class-A Full Season affiliate, the Quad Cities River Bandits, defeated the Beloit Snappers 8-0, to win their 12th straight game and improve to 25-6.
The Bandits sent Daniel Mengden to the mound to face the Snappers Daniel Gossett, with the hopes to stop Quad Cities Rivers winning streak.
In the bottom of second, the Bandits struck for an early 1-0 when Mott Hyde singled and scored ahead of a Sean McMullen triple.
Both teams remained scoreless until the bottom of the third when Quad Cities River added three more runs. McMullen opened the inning with a double to center field, and scored on a throwing error, after a sacrifice bunt by Jason Martin. After a walk to Thomas Lindauer, James Ritchie hit a one out single to score both Martin and Lindauer to extend the lead to 4-0.
As the Bandits pitchers kept the Snappers off the bases, the offense kept moving along with a run in the bottom of the sixth on McMullen’s second home run of the season and three more runs in the bottom of the seventh on RBI doubles by Derek Fisher and Hyde and an RBI single by Nick Tanielu.
The Bandits finished with eight runs on 10 hits and allowed just two hits to the Snappers in the 8-0 shutout victory.
