Rangers Acquire Yovani Gallardo From Brewers

Rangers trade three players for Gallardo.

The Texas Rangers and the Milwaukee Brewers finalized a trade on Monday that will send right handed pitcher Yovani Gallardo to the Rangers.

Gallardo spent his entire eight major league seasons with the Brewers and posted 89 victories against 64 losses.  He has a career 3.69 ERA and has struck out 1226 batters in 1289.1 innings.  The righty’s best season came in 2011 when he won 17 games, walked just 59 and struck out 207 batters in 207.1 innings. In 2014, the 28-year old finished 8-11, with a 3.51 ERA, the lowest in his career.

In the trade for Gallardo, the Rangers sent reliever Corey Knebel, infielder Luis Sardinas and Minor League pitcher Marcos Diplan.

In 2014, Knebel had a 6.23 ERA in eight games for the Rangers, Sardinas batted .261 in 43 games and Diplan was ranked by MLB.com as the Rangers #20 prospect and was 7-2, with a 1.54 ERA in the Dominican Summer League.
