Rangers Jacob deGrom Back On The Mound And Ready For A New Start
The Texas Rangers Jacob deGrom has had one heck of a Major League baseball career, as he mowed down batters with ease on his way to and winning two Cy Young awards. Now the 4-time All Star will take the mound for his first regular season start since last September and a chance to finally put a full season behind him.
The last time deGrom appeared in at least 30 games, was back in 2019 with the New York Mets, which was ironically also his second Cy Young season. But injuries have limited deGrom to just 35 starts in the last four years, which includes just three from last season.
But a new season brings new hope, and on Sunday he will finally take the ball from his skipper and look to put the past behind him.
During this past spring training, deGrom threw 10 innings, posting a 1-2 record, with a 4.50 ERA, allowing eight hits, five earned runs, two home runs, three walks and struck out eight batters, through three starts.
Now deGrom will face off against the Boston Red Sox, a team he has pitched well against, recording a 0-2 record, but with a 2.88 ERA and 35 strikeouts over 25 innings pitched.
The Rangers lost the first game against the Red Sox on Thursday 5-2, but took the last two games 4-1 and 4-3 and with a victory on Sunday, they can take win the series and at improve to 3-1. Most importantly, a good start from deGrom can get the ball rolling in the right direction for the 36 year old starter.
First pitch is set for 1:35 PM CT.
