According to media reports, the Tampa Bay Rays are closing to signing outfielder and free agent Colby Rasmus to a deal, pending a physical. The Rays have yet to confirm the deal.
Possible terms have been reported being a one-year deal, worth $5 million with incentives pushing it to $7 million.
Rasmus , who made his major league debut in 2009 with the St. Lois Cardinals, spent the last two season (2015-2016), with the Houston Astros, hitting a career high 25 home runs in 2015 while playing in 137 games. He doesn’t hit for average batting just .241 in his eight year career, but has averaged 19 home runs and 58 RBI’s over that span.
In October, Rasmus had several procedures that included, shaving down a bone spur and repairing the labrum in his left hip and a core muscle. He is expected to be ready for Spring Training.
