Red Sox To Sign Alexi Ogando
- Updated: January 30, 2015

Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports is reporting that the Boston Red Sox have reached an agreement with right-handed pitcher Alexi Ogando. It appears that the deal is worth $1.5 million guaranteed and is pending a physical.

Ogando, 31, has spent his entire career major league career as a member of the Texas Rangers, before being non-tendered early this December. In his major league career, Ogando has a record of 28-16 in 183 games, 48 as a starter, with an ERA of 3.35. He was selected to the All-Star team in 2011 which was his best season as a starter. He appeared in 27 games in 2014 all out of the bullpen and struggled, before being shut down with elbow issues. This is a low-risk high-reward signing for the Red Sox, depending on the financial commitment, who are still trying to get their rotation in order. Bob Nightengale of the USA Today is adding that there are performance incentives worth up to an additional $1.5 million.
