On July 25th, the Colorado Rockies rookie David Dahl made his major league debut and since then he has been nothing short of amazing.
On Thursday, the Birmingham, AL native hit safely in his 17th straight game, tying the major league record for the longest hitting streak to begin a career. Last to achieve that feat was Chuck Aleno who did it back in 1941.
Throughout his streak, Dahl is batting .358, with a double, three triples, three home runs, and 10 RBI’s, and also has five multi-hit games so far on the season.
Dahl’s comments to the media regarding his streak:
“It’s pretty cool.” …. “I really haven’t thought much about it, besides looking on Twitter.”
On Friday, Dahl will look to break the record when he tries to record a hit in the first 18 games of his career.
