With Aroldis Chapman still weighing his free agency options, it seems that the Chicago Cubs may have officially found their closer as they acquired RHP Wade Davis from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for outfielder Jorge Soler.

The 31-year-old Davis suffered forearm injuries twice in 2016, requiring him to miss  a significant amount of time. Davis made 45 appearances in 2016 with a 1.87 ERA and a 2-1 record with 47 strikeouts in 43.1 inning of work. Davis will now be reunited with his former Manager Joe Maddon from when they were both with the Tampa Bay Rays.

As for Soler, the 24-year-old, will now have sufficient playing time with the Kansas City Royals. Soler did play in 2016 when he wasn’t battling injury, he took time in left field when Kyle Schwarber missed the regular season and then the majority of the post-season with an ACL injury. In 86 games he hit just .238 with 12 homers and just 31 RBIs.
