Savannah Earn 6-5 Comeback Win Over Rome
Sand Gnats open three-game series with victory.

Game one of the three game series between the Savannah Sand Gnats and the Rome Braves was played Monday evening at Grayson Stadium in front of 1,350 fans.
Savannah made good use of their four hits to score six runs and win the first game of the series 6-5.
Rome scored two runs in the 3rd inning when shortstop Ozhaino Albies led off with a single and moved to third when center fielder Keith Curcio, hit into a fielders choice combined with a throwing error by Savannah shortstop Luis Guillorme. A sacrifice fly by Braves first baseman Tanner Krietemier drove in scored Albies. Then another throwing error by Guillorme plated Curcio.
Savannah rallied for four runs in their half of the home 3rd as third baseman Jonathan Johnson walked, and after a single by Guillorme, center fielder John Mora singled to score Johnson. With Wuilmer Becerra batting, Rome pitcher Alec Grosser unleashed a wild pitch, sending Guillorme to the plate. To close out the scoring, designated hitter Jon Leroux hit a line drive double to right field to score Mora and Becerra.
In the 4th inning, Rome scored twice when left fielder Joseph Daris doubled and went to third on a single by Albies. Curico then hit sacrifice fly to center field to score Daris. Next batter, third baseman Jordan Edgerton, then doubled to score Albies to tie the game at 4-4.
The final run for the Braves came in the top of the 6th inning, when second baseman Omar Obregon singled and scored on a bunt single by Curcio scoring Obregon to temporarily put Rome up 5-4.
In the bottom of the 8th inning, the Sand Gnats made their comeback as they scored two runs without a hit to take the lead. Guillorme led off the inning with a walk, followed by a walk to Mora. Then a sacrifice bunt by Becerra advanced the runners to second and third. Guillorme scored on a wild pitch and Mora scored on a ground out to give the Sand Gnats a well earned 6-5 victory.
