Solano Helps RailRiders In 4-3 Extra Innings Victory

The Scranton/ Wilkes-Barre RailRiders hosted the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on Tuesday night at PNC Field and, it would be a late rally by the IronPigs that would send the game into extra innings.
RHP Luis Cessa(ERA 3.18) took the start for Scranton as RHP Reinier Roibal (ERA 8.44) took the start for Lehigh Valley.
In the bottom of the second Chris Parmelee helped Scranton get on the board when he scored after Pete Kozma grounded into a double play. The IronPigs then tied the game at one with a RBI single by Darnell Sweeney, sending Will Venable home for a tied ballgame.
Andrew Knapp then hit a homerun on a fly ball to right field to give Lehigh Valley the 2-1 lead. In the bottom of the fourth, the RailRiders were able to get some offense going as the inning started with a walk by Parmelee. Donovan Solano then hit a single on a ground ball to left to put runners at first and second. Parmelee advanced to third when Jose Rosario flied out to center. The IronPigs’ Roibal then hit Pete Kozma with a pitch to load the bases with one out for Scranton.
Lane Adams’ RBI single on a fly ball to left field to send home Parmelee home to tie the game at two runs a piece. After a pitching change for Lehigh Valley, with Hoby Milner (ERA 0.00) now on the mound, Ben Gamel hit a sac fly to left field to send home Solano for a one run advantage for the RailRiders.
Roibal pitched just three and one third innings allowing three runs on six hits; walking two and striking out one batter. Milner then pitched another three and one third innings of no hit ball; striking out three and keeping the IronPigs in the game.
Cessa pitched five and one third innings for the RailRiders allowing two runs on four hits; walking one and striking out two batters. LHP Tyler Webb (ERA 1.93) then closed out the sixth inning and pitched the seventh allowing just one hit and struck out two batters.

RHP Diego Moreno (ERA6.30) pitched the eighth and ninth innings for Scranton and allowed the tying run in the top of the ninth with a solo homerun on a fly ball to left field by Lehigh Valley’s Taylor Featherston for a 3-3 ballgame and to extra innings it would go.
RHP Conor Mullee pitched the tenth inning with no hits allowed while striking out one and giving the RailRiders a chance to win it in the bottom of the tenth, which they would do.
A pass ball by the IronPigs’ Andrew Knapp with Ben Gamel at the plate, allowed Donovan Solano to score for a 4-3 ballgame.
LHP Bobby LaFromboise (ERA 1.35) was charged with the loss for Lehigh Valley. Diego Moreno was charged with the blown save, his second of the season as Conor Mullee earned his second win of the season.
