T.J. Rivera Lands Managers Seat With Guardians ACL Team
- Updated: February 19, 2023

Wow, I know I am truly late to the party, but this is one news that I am so happy to write about.
T.J. Rivera, who I have written about for many years here on LOD and also was a guest on Episode 17 of our Podcast, received a major promotion within the Cleveland Guardians organization.
Rivera, started his pro career in 2011, had 11 seasons in the game, which included two seasons in the bigs with the Mets and was on Team Puerto Rico for the 2017 World Baseball Classic.
Last May he took a coaching job with the Guardians Arizona Complex League team and on February 7, 2023, it was reported that he was named as the teams new Manager.
What a great reward for a player who truly understands how the game is played and has had great success on the field in all of the levels he played.
Rivera will bring the knowledge of how to approach the game from the batters box and how to provide great defense to help win games. He will have help with the pitching staff as Cleveland will give the Pitching coach job to Anderson Polanco. Polanco pitched for nine seasons in Cleveland’s minor league system.
He will also have Craig Massoni as his hitting coach and Erlin Cerda as the bench coach.
This is a huge accomplishment for Rivera, who greatly impressed his bosses, who have the confidence in him to lead their up and coming stars.
Congrats T.J and as always we wish you much success in your new role.
