If you are a New York Yankees fan and you haven’t heard of Dermis Garcia, you may want to start paying attention. The 21 year old smashed his way to a Florida State League Home Run Derby Championship this afternoon in Jupiter.
Garcia had the crowd on their feet in the Final Round, putting up 12 homers in the 3 minute time frame against runner-up Ryan Jeffers of Ft. Myers. Jeffers had a run off round with Julio Rodriquez of Palm Beach to advance to the Final Round.
The Home Run Derby also included Brady Policelli (Lakeland), Dylan Busby (Bradenton) and Jim Haley (Charlotte). Today’s starting pitchers for the 2019 Florida State League All-Star Game are Nick Allgeyer (Dunedin) for the North and Jordan Holloway (Jupiter) for the South. The Jupiter Hammerheads (Marlins) and Palm Beach Cardinals host this year’s game at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.
